10/19/1995MAZEPPA, Minn. -- Richard F. Kastler, 65, of rural Mazeppa, died Tuesday (Oct. 17, 1995) at his home. Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday at the French Church, three miles east of Woolstock, Iowa, with Gerald Caquelin officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the Vine Funeral Home, 428 Third Ave. S.W., Rochester.
Richard F. Kastler was born Sept. 20, 1930, in Woolstock to Robert Kastler and Gladys Kastler (nee) Loux. He was a graduate of Woolstock High School. He attended Eagle Grove Junior College and graduated from Iowa State University in Ames with a B.S. degree in civil engineering. On Dec. 26, 1955, he was united in marriage to Marilyn L. Haase at Clear Lake, Iowa. In 1953 he started working in Mason City, Iowa, as an engineer. In 1964 he became a partner in Wallace, Holland, Kaster, Schmitz and Company. In 1966, he moved to rural Rochester to open a Minnesota office. He moved to Mazeppa in 1985 and had lived there since. He was a member of the Rochester Downtown Rotary Club, and served on the National Arbitration Board. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was also a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church of Pine Island.
Survivors include his beloved wife, Marilyn; two sons, Kevin Kastler and his wife, Amy, of rural Mazeppa, and Lou and his wife, Kathleen of Rochester; five grandchildren, Katie, Laura and Emily Kastler, and LeeAnna and Richard Kastler; three brothers, Carol Kastler of Mason City, Larry Kastler of Woolstock, and Kenneth Kastler of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Gladys.
