Joyce P. Hackbarth, 77, of Coulter, died Thursday (Jan. 16, 1997) at Franklin General Hospital, Hampton. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Calvary Baptist Church, Belmond, with the Rev. Dave Pestel officiating. Burial will be at the Morgan Township Cemetery, Dows. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond.

Joyce was born Dec. 18, 1919, on a farm near Clarion in Wright County. Survivors include one son, Galen Hackbarth of Hampton; daughters, Myrna Bertheau of Shell Rock, and Janet Hackbarth of Ankeny; brothers, Robert Wharton of Latimer, and Ronald Wharton of Hampton; sisters, Marjorie Wheeler of Morris, Minn., Joan Andreasen of Algona, and Jean Markham of Belmond; four granddaughters; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother.
