LATIMER - Shirley E. Plagge, 67, of 673 190th St., died Thursday (March 16, 2000) at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Immanuel United Church of Christ, Latimer, with the Rev. Jeffrey Long officiating. Burial will follow in Marion Center Cemetery, Latimer. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Willim Funeral Home in Latimer.

Shirley Emma Proeger was born on July 10, 1932, the daughter of Martin Luther and Olive Virginia (Hoffman) Proeger, in Mason City. She attended and graduated from Belmond schools and continued her education at Iowa State University. In October of 1956, Shirley was united in marriage to Marvin Pals of Belmond. At the time Shirley worked for many years at Acco Seeds in Belmond.
On April 12, 1980, she was united in marriage to Marvin Plagge of Latimer. They farmed together outside of Latimer. Shirley had a great love for the outdoors and always enjoyed gardening and camping. She was also involved in barrel racing and team driving. Shirley was an active member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Latimer and also participated in card clubs and various other organizations.

She is survived by her husband, Marvin Plagge, Latimer; her children, Brian Pals, Aurora, Colo., and Virginia Workman, Ashburn, Va.; step-children, Julie and Elias Castillo, Minneapolis, Jennifer Plagge, Cuba, Mo., and John and Anne Plagge, Clear Lake; step-granddaughters, Brooklyn Plagge and Kayla Castillo; brothers, Luther Proeger Jr. and his wife, Mary, Belmond, and Linden Proeger and his wife, Carol, Prophetstown, Ill.; a sister, Betty Conner and her husband, Albert, Alexandria, La.; and many nieces and nephews. Shirley was preceded in death by her parents.
