Kenneth K. Knight, 83, of Goldfield, died Friday (July 7, 2000) at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. today at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield, with the Rev. Karen Dearchs officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery at Goldfield. Visitation was held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.

Kenneth K. Knight was born on March 14, 1917, to Jay and Maude (Kelling) Knight. He attended Thrall Country School and also Goldfield High School. On Feb. 3, 1940, he was married to Frances Wilcox at the Presbyterian Church Parsonage in Goldfield. After marriage they made their home at the old Shirk farm for one year. He was engaged in farming. The second year they moved to the Kelling farm. They also made their home on the Axon and Bartzen farms, moving to town to retire in the winter of 1982. Kenneth was active in the United Presbyterian Church, serving on the trustee committee and was an ordained elder. He also served on the Humboldt R.E.C. and the Goldfield State Bank boards for approximately 10 years. Grandpa Kenny will be fondly remembered by his loving grandchildren for many farm memories, especially for the chicken butchering, the sweet corn freezing, the hot dog roasts, the wonderful watermelons he raised and mostly for letting them sing "Elvira" through the streets of Goldfield. He will be remembered for making his wonderful homemade ice cream for everyone's birthday. Kenneth and Frances' home was always open to friends and family for great conversation and food. They were avid square dance club members and enjoyed many years of dancing. He and Francis were able to celebrate their 60th anniversary on Feb. 3, 2000. A family dinner was held with all family members present.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lynn and Richard; and two sisters, Ione and Elizabeth. He is survived by his loving wife, Frances; one son, Dennis Knight and his wife, Glenda, of Humboldt; two daughters, Sandra and her husband, Tom Stevenson, of Goldfield and Janice and her husband, Al Rodriguez, of Belmond; one brother, James "Pete" L. Knight and his wife, Mildred, of Clarion; and two sisters, Betty Lou Knight, of Emmetsburg, and Lucile Kvale, of Clarion. He will be lovingly remembered by his seven grandchildren, Todd and his wife, Lisa, of Dubuque, Paul and his wife, Kris, of Clear Lake, Lori and her husband, Benji, of Keosauqua, Kendall, of Goldfield, DeAnna and her husband, Steve, of Britt, Rochelle and her husband, Don, of Milwaukee, Wis., and Kristin and her husband, Steve, of Iowa City; also six great-grandchildren, Nathan, Nicholas, Zachery, Jacob, Dane and Noah.
