August 11, 1996BELMOND -- Marion Lamfers, 82, passed away Friday (Aug. 9, 1996) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Olaf Lutheran Church with the Rev. Lowell Halvorson officiating. Interment will be in Amsterdam Township Cemetery, Kanawha. Visitation will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. today at Dugger-Ewing Funeral Home.
Marion, the son of Ben and Anna Hiller Lamfers, was born Sept. 24, 1913 in Kanawha. Marion was united in marriage to Hilda Mehus at the St. Olaf Lutheran Parsonage. The couple made their home on a farm south of Kanawha, where they farmed for nearly 40 years. In 1978, Marion retired from farming and they moved into Belmond. Marion enjoyed spending his time fishing and gardening. He was a devoted member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church.
Marion is survived by two sons, Richard and his wife, Bernita, of Grundy Center, and Roger and his wife, Lois, of Kanawha; two daughters, Diana O'Donnell and her husband, John, of Mason City, and Linda Kuhlers and her husband, Marlin, of Belmond; grandchildren, Marc and his wife, Denise, Christine, Rodney and his wife, Kerry, Randall and Ronald Lamfers, Troy and Scott O'Donnell, Darcy Kruger and her husband, Kevin; one great-granddaughter, Heather Lamfers; one brother, Oafae Lamfers of Clarion; four sisters, Carrie Buseman of Rockford, Gertie Paulson of Garner, Frieda Mehus of Austin, Minn., and Alice Lamfers of Clarion. He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda, in 1989; three brothers; and four sisters.
