"Ole" Lauden Sr. will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Dugger Ewing Funeral Home in Belmond and one hour prior to services at the church.
Dorance, the son of Clarence and Velma Pannhoff Lauden, was born May 20, 1927, in Klemme. He attended Country Schools in the Belmond and Rowan area. He worked for a time at General Mills in Belmond. On Aug. 1, 1948, Dorance was united in marriage to Lucille Petersen in Hampton. The couple made their home south of Belmond where they were involved in farming. In 1951 they moved to the Thornton/Rockwell/Swaledale area where they continued farming. Ole never really retired as a farmer. Ole enjoyed driving his Cadillac in area parades. He loved playing horseshoes and watching others play when he couldn't play anymore. He also enjoyed playing cards. The card game "500" was Ole's game. Ole also enjoyed watching his granddaughters dance, whether they were competing or just dancing for fun. The highlights of his life were his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. When it came to them, Ole was ever loving and ever accepting. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Belmond. The church was very important to him.
Dorance is survived by his wife, Lucille; one daughter, Candace Gossweiler and her husband, Steve, of Mason City; and one son, Dorance Jr. and Nancy, of Goodell; four grandchildren, Heather, Misty, Heath and Tiffany; four great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, and his special dog, Jake. He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Donald. Dugger Ewing Funeral Home.
