Funeral services for George B. Opheim, 48, of Alexandria, Minn., formerly of Bode, were held Tuesday, Aug. 7, at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Bode. Mr. Opheim died Friday, Aug. 3, 1984 at the Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn., of injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Wednesday, Aug. 1, near Hutchison, Minn. Officiating at the services was the Rev. Harold Naig and the Rev. Floyd Anderson. Mrs. Conrad Larson was organist and Charlotte Bjornson and Lorraine Enger were in charge of the arrangements of flowers. Burton Rood and Oscar Oppedahl were ushers. Honorary casketbearers were Mark Opheim, Mike Shultz and Terry Lewis. Casketbearers were Tom, Steve, Gary, Mike, Jeff and Pat Opheim. Interment was in St. Olaf Cemetery, Bode. The Lindhart Funeral Home, Humboldt, was in charge of arrangements.

George Bruce Opheim, the son of Bernold and Gladys Rierson Opheim, was born Dec. 3, 1935 at Fort Dodge and was reared at Bode. He graduated from the Bode High school in 1953 and Luther College in 1957. He taught music in the Goldfield High school until 1960 when he moved to Glenwood, Minn., where he taught music in the high school. He earned a masters degree in music education from Mankato State College in 1965 and became director of bands and instrumental music at Augustana College at Rock Island, Ill. He held that position until 1983 and had recently made his home at Alexandria, Minn.

Survivors include his mother, Gladys Ellingson of Buffalo Center; brothers, Roger of Wichita, Kan., Lyle of Sergeant Bluff, Richard of Dows and Dennis of Huntsville, Ala.
