Funeral For CECIL WHISLER

Cecil Whisler of Rural Route 3 died Monday, September 19, 1977, at the age of 76. Born on June 1, 1901, in Hamilton county near Woolstock, he was the son of Aamon and Genivieve Nottingham Whisler. A farmer in Madison county for 19 years, Cecil retired in 1972 and moved to Winterset. He was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance and attended Deer Creek Chapel. He helped at the chapel and at Stanzel Christian High School at Greenfield, where he was a board member.

On April 20, 1927, in Settler, Alberta, Canada, he married Lucy Fitzgerald who died July 27, 1954. On January 4, 1956, he married Blanche Wilkinson in Winterset. Survivors include his wife Blanche; two sons, Dave, missionary in Columbia, South America, and Larry; three daughters, Carol Whisler, missionary in Peru, South America, Mrs. Marlin (Mildred) Rasmussen of Central City, Nebraska, and Mrs. Ed (Miriam) Baer of Perry; eight grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Also surviving are one brother, Forest of Webster City; two sisters, Mrs. Rosella Crossgrove of Freeville, New York, and Mrs. Madeline Denby of Prescott, Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lucy, one infant daughter, and one sister.

The funeral service was held Thursday, September 11 at Collins Funeral Home with Rev. William Campbell officiating. Burial was made at Winterset Cemetery.
