Lars Andreas Johnson, son of Nels and Margarette nee Ullensvang Johnson was born May 9, 1880 on a farm southeast of Thor where he lived all his life. He was baptized and confirmed in the Thor parish. He attended the rural schools of the area and Luther Academy at Albert Lea. He taught rural schools in Norway and Beaver townships. He was united in marriage with Elizabeth Sorenson at Amboy, Minn., Dec. 17, 1913. He passed away May 29 at the age of 83 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two brothers. Surviving are his daughter, (Valain) Mrs. Marion Blake of Thor; one brother, Mandius of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, (Margaret) Mrs. Dan Lothe, Thor and (Selma) Mrs. Chester Johnson, Belmond and one grandchild. Funeral services were held June 1 at the Thor Lutheran church with the Rev. David A. Lee officiating. Casket bearers were Arthur Alexander, John Wickre, Lancelot Johnson, Harold N. Johnson, Lewis Johnson and Allen Korslund. Interment was in Rose Hill cemetery at Eagle Grove.
