Avon L. Gorder was born March 29, 1919, on her parents farm near Dows, Iowa, the daughter of Chris and Emma [Ellingson] Gorder. She attended country schools and graduated from the Dows, Iowa Community Schools with the class of 1936. In 1939, she was united in marriage to Clarence M. Price at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Karen, Dean, and Marlene. In 1958 Clarence and Avon moved to Iowa Falls, Iowa and purchased the hatchery. She operated the Price Hatchery from 1958 until retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Iowa Falls; the church cirle, and a former member of the Ladies of the Moose.

Avon is survived by her son: Dean R. Price and his wife Donna of Iowa City, Iowa; one daughter: Marlene M. Stott and husband Dale of Ackley, Iowa; one son-in-law: Neil Havens of Cedar Falls, Iowa; nine grandchildren: Darci Koehnk and husband Hans of Jewell, Iowa, Dawn Garms and husband Aaron of LaCross, Wisconsin, Mitch and Teesa Price of Iowa City, Iowa, Kevin Price of Lake Mills, Iowa, Penny Stott of Emmetsburg, Iowa, Angela Wood of Ackley, Iowa, Keelie Zacharias of Lake Mills, Iowa, Kristin Stott of Ackley, Iowa; nine great-grandchildren; one sister: Leona Hackbarth of Iowa Falls, Iowa; and one brother: Wallace Gorder of Iowa Falls, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents: Chris and Emma Gorder; her husband: Clarence M. Price; one daughter: Karen K. Havens; one granddaughter: Melissa Havens; and one brother: Dale Gorder. Linn's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
