Harold E. Davis, 90, of 418 E 5th St. S., died of congestive heart failure, Monday, Jan. 8, at Skiff Medical Center in Newton. Funeral services will be Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at Wallace Family Funeral Home in Newton with the Rev. David Wendell, pastor of First United Methodist Church in Newton, officiating. Burial will be at Mount Zion Cemetery in rural Newton. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Family will receive friends Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Memorials will be accepted to First United Methodist Church or Hospice of Jasper County.

The son of Charles H. and Alice A. Simpson Davis, he was born Feb. 26, 1910, in rural Newton. He was a graduate of Newton High School in 1928 and married Grace Bickell in January 1933. Mr. Davis later married Dorothy Van Gilst on June 2, 1950, in Clarion. He was a supervisor in the machine shop for Research and Development Department for the Maytag Company for 37 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of First United Methodist Church and Maytag Management Club.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and T. Gerald Oydgard of Amana; a brother, Lester of Newton; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, two step-daughters, and two brothers.
