James Herschel Spangler
July 25, 1916, Eagle Grove, Wright, Iowa -- May 11, 1993

He attended Eagle Grove Schools, graduating from High school in 1934. He married Phyllis Fisher in 1939 in Eagle Grove. They farmed until his retirement at the age of 68 years. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, the ASCA, was a director of the Security Savings Bank. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Farmers' Co-op, Woolstock, and Share Christmas and the Chamber of Commerce of Eagle Grove. Survivors include his wife, Phyllis; sons, Dean, Rocky Mountain, N.C., Loren, Mesa, Ariz, and Brian, Eagle Grove; daughter, Joane Brisbin, Princeton, W.Va.; brother, Kenneth, Eagle Grove; 10 grandchildren; 9 g-grandchildren. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
