Dr. George H. Gitz, 77, of Clarion, died Saturday (Dec. 30, 1995) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City. He was a retired Clarion veterinarian. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Kellogg officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, with military honors. Visitation will be from 3 until 8 p.m. today at the Willim Funeral Home, with the family present from 6 until 8 p.m. Memorials may be given to Community Memorial Hospital, Clarion.

George Henry Gitz III was born April 23, 1918, at Hamburg. Survivors include his wife, Muriel Gitz of Clarion; three daughters, Judi Pruchnicki of Des Moines, Betty Gitz of West Union and Cheri Eltzeroth of St. Joseph, Ill.; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister, Dorothy Steece of Perry. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.
