Ora Risdall, 95, passed away April 8, 2007 in Santa Barbara, CA. She lived for many years at 1601 6th Avenue North, in Fort Dodge, IA and in Santa Barbara CA. for the last few years. She is survived by her son, Roger Risdall of Santa Barbara, CA, her daughter, Judy May of Los Angeles, CA, brother Pershing Helgevold of Springfield, MA. seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was born on a farm near Holmes, Iowa on Nov. 19, 1911 to Rose and Ole Helgevold, attended schools in the Holmes area and graduated from high school in Eagle Grove, IA in 1930. In 1934 she met Norton Risdall while working at the former Lutheran Hospital in Fort Dodge and they were married in 1935. The couple made there home in Fort Dodge for over 50 years. After her husband was drafted into the Army in 1942, Mrs. Risdall worked for Montgomery Ward, Globe Union and the Fort Dodge Container Company, all in Fort Dodge. Mrs. Risdall was a member of St. Olaf Lutheran Church for many years. After her husband passed away in 1988, she continued to live in the family home until 2004 when she moved to Santa Barbara, CA to be closer to her children and grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are being provided by Gunderson Funeral Home and graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 AM on May 3, 2007 at North Lawn Cemetery with Pastor David Grindberg of St. Olaf Lutheran Church officiating.
