Alice E. Lenze, 95, Mason City, died Sunday, April 22, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center North Iowa. Funeral Services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, April 27, 2007 at First United Methodist Church, 119 South Georgia with Rev. Jim Stiles of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Belle Plaine, IA. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday April 26, 2007, at Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the Masonic Temple, First United Methodist Church, and the Shriners Hospitals.

Alice was born April 15, 1912, near Clarion, Iowa the daughter of Joseph and Lydia (Hamer) Tallman. She attended school in Clarion and graduated from there. She married Leonard Lenze on January 21, 1946 in her parent's home in Clarion, Iowa.

She is survived by her sons, Chuck Lenze and wife Elaine of Norwalk, IA, Tom (Herm) Lenze and wife Kyla of Prole, IA; grandchildren, Troy Lenze and wife Gregoria of Arlington, VA, Eric Lenze of Dubuque, IA, Adam Lenze of Prole, IA, Sara Lenze and fiance Caleb Adams-Brown of Indianola, IA; brother, Russell Tallman and wife Alice of Washington, IL; nieces, Becky Jo LaDuke of Mcpherson, KS, Kathi Letterman of Laporte, PA; nephews, Byron Allison of Mason City, Randy Tallman of Kenosha, WI. She then attended Hamilton Business College, receiving a degree in office management. She married Leonard Lenze on Jan. 21, 1946, in her parent's home in Clarion. She worked at Newberry's, Credit Bureau and YWCA as office manager. She retired in 1977. Alice was a member of Hoover PTA, Masonic Temple, White Shrine Alchor No. 6, holding local and national offices, Eastern Star, North Iowa Shrine Club, North Iowa Quilt Club, Shrine Auxiliary, China Painting Group, First United Methodist Church and was active in the Rebecca Circle. She held offices in many of these groups. Alice enjoyed working word puzzles, stamp collecting, supporting charities, gardening, canning, sewing, traveling and watching sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, Twins, Vikings and the Mohawks. She also enjoyed driving the support vehicle on RAGBRAI and other bicycling adventures for her late husband and sons. "Nannie" will especially be remembered by her grandchildren for her wonderful homemade rolls. Family was important to Alice and she enjoyed as much time as possible with them.

She is survived by her sons, Chuck Lenze and wife, Elaine, of Norwalk, and Tom (Herm) Lenze and wife, Kyla, of Prole; grandchildren, Troy Lenze and wife, Gregoria, of Arlington, Va., Eric Lenze, of Dubuque, Adam Lenze, of Prole, Sara Lenze and fiancé, Caleb Adams-Brown, of Indianola; brother, Russell Tallman and wife, Alice, of Washington, Ill.; nieces, Becky Jo LaDuke, of McPherson, Kan., Kathi Letterman, of Laporte, Pa.; nephews, Byron Allison, of Mason City, and Randy Tallman, of Kenosha, Wis. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leonard, in 2000; brother, Joseph Tallman; and sister, Ruth Allison.
