Lillie Catherine Wepel, 94, of Webster City, died Friday, March 16, 2007 at the Polk City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center with Pastor Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and prior to services on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Lillie Catherine Arrasmith daughter of Elija Grant and Sarah Ahrens Arrasmith was born on August 13, 1912 on the family farm north of Ames. She received her education and graduated from Ames High School. On October 1, 1933, she married John Robert Wepel at the Church of Christ in Webster City. The couple farmed in the Woolstock, Kamrar, Ellsworth and Webster City areas. They moved to Webster City in 1979. Mr. John R. Wepel died on June 23, 2002. She had been residing at the Polk City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the past two weeks.

Lillie is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Clair La Vern and Eva Wepel, Marion John and Stella Wepel all of Ankeny; grandchildren, Connie, Bill, Karen, Randy, Michael, and Catherine; 18 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren; 6 nieces and 3 nephews. In addition to her husband John R., she was preceded in death by her grandson, Clair La Vern Caquelin Jr.; granddaughter, Lori Lynn Wepel Van Ommeren; brother, Alva A. Arrasmith; sisters, Ruth Arrasmith Bates and Esther Marie Arrasmith in infancy; 4 nephews and her parents. Mrs. Wepel was a member of the Church Of Christ in Webster City where she was active in various church circles.
