Violet Bode, 87, formerly of Belmond, died March 3, 2007 at USA Health Care Center in Clarion. Services were held March 7 at the Belmond United Methodist Church with Pastor Mike Druhl officiating. Burial was at the Belmond Cemetery. Violet was born March 17, 1919 in Belmond to Thomas and Elsie May (Ainger) Harty. She was raised and attended school in the Belmond area. Violet married Darwin Glen Bode on June 4, 1935 in Algona. Violet enjoyed playing pinochle, cooking, fishing, crocheting and reading. She was an excellent cook and worked at the Sundowner in Clarion.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Darwin; daughter Audrey Darlene; son Ray Bode; granddaughters Janese and LaDonna; grandson David; great granddaughter Angel Mae; great-great grandson Spencer Hansen; brothers Lester, Ray, Maynard and Cleatis; and sister Marie. Violet is survived by children Ellen (Dale) Brobst of Necedah, WI, Dan Bode of Goldfield, Cindy Espeseth of Apache Junction, AZ, LuCretia Bartels of Necedah, and Kaye Roelofsen and special friend Robert Piekarski of Algona; thirty-one grandchildren; fifty-eight great grandchildren; and many great-great grandchildren.
