THOMAS AND LEONA SEVERE

On March 10, 2007, Thomas Severe, 89, died at Crestview Senior Living [Webster City] and on March 19, 2007, Leona Severe, 87, died at Crestview Senior Living. They had resided at Crestview for the past year. Memorial services for Thomas and Leona Severe will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 23, 2007 at the Foster Chapel, with Rev. Gerald Caquelin officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be at the Foster Funeral and Cremation Center from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and prior to the service on Friday.

Thomas Lawrence Severe, son of Leon and Susie Steele Severe, was born June 10, 1917 at Galt, Iowa. He lived at Dows and received his education in the Dows school system. On September 9, 1938, he married Leona Mason at Minnesota. The couple resided in Iowa, Illinois and Wyoming. Over the years, he had worked in a steel mill, operated heavy equipment and was a meat cutter. They moved to Webster City, from Clarion, in 1955 where he worked at Webster City Iron and Metal. He retired in the late 80’s.

Leona A. Mason, daughter of Thomas and Clara Wenos Mason, was born April 6, 1919 at Clarion. She received her education at Clarion. She sold Avon for 9 1/2 years, worked at Farm Journal and was a homemaker.

Tom and Leona are survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Tom and Jeanne Severe, Steve and Vicki Severe, all of Webster City; grandchildren, Chad Severe of Des Moines; Ryan and Lisa Severe of Bainbridge, GA; Jessica and Charles Higgins of Ames; Matthew Severe of Webster City; Leona’s sisters, Lila Amonson of Clarion; Donna Ainger of Belmond; several nieces and nephews. They were preceded in death by an infant daughter, Sandra Sue Severe; grandson, Justin Severe; Tom’s brothers, Howard, Vernon and Donald Severe; Leona’s brothers and sisters, Kenneth and Walter Mason; Edna Legge; Bonnie Stadtlander; Isabelle Gunderson; Erma Claude and Shirley Bennen.
