Claude E. Lamar, 89, Fort Dodge, former resident of Eagle Grove and Webster City, died Saturday at Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at Foster Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Webster City, Pastor Gerald Caquelin will officiate, and the burial of ashes will be in Graceland Cemetery.

Claude Edward Lamer, son of Edward and Blanche Rockwell Lamer, was born May 21, 1917 at Harlan. Claude was a WWII and Korean War Veteran. He served with the 67th armored regiment in WWII as a tank driver. He earned the European and African Ribbon with one silver and two bronze battle stars. He also had five overseas service bars along with the good conduct medal while serving under General George Patton. During the Korean War, he continued in another tank division and was awarded the combat infantry badge, Korean service medal with two bronze stars and the UN Service Medal. Claude was very proud of his lengthy service to his country. On April 4, 1969, he married Mildred Dishman Mesik in Papillion, Neb. The couple lived in Battle Creek, Mich. for several years while Claude was employed at Clark Equipment Co. Claude retired after 20 years in 1987 at which time the couple moved to Webster City. In the mid 1990’s, the couple moved to Eagle Grove.

Claude’s wife Mildred preceded him in death in November of 2001. Claude is survived by one sister, Marge O’Connor of Des Moines and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Bob, Emmett and John; three sisters, Geraldine Luke, Frances Caquelin and Lois Poggel.
