Eva Mary Nickles, 87, of Clarion, died Wednesday (Oct. 2, 1996) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City, of cancer. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Graceland Cemetery in Webster City, with the Rev. Charles Kellogg officiating. Willim Funeral Home, Claron, is in charge of arrangements. There is no visitation. Memorials may be directed to Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit.

Eva Mary Nickles was born Feb. 8, 1909, in Hamilton County. Her parents were William and Edith Ashpole. She was raised and educated and graduated from high school in Webster City. She then taught school for several years. On Sept. 7, 1933, she and Louis ``Ole'' Nickles were married at Albert Lea, Minn. They lived in St. Louis and she was with the Florsheim Shoe Company. In 1974, she retired to Clarion and he died Oct. 16, 1990. She had been a patient at Muse Norris since last Friday. She was a member of the Clarion First United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Madelyn Ashpole and Lottie Pettinger, both of Mason City, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother and one sister.
