Glenn Weston Bier, 70, of Clear Lake, died Thursday, Feb. 16, 1995, at the Muse-Norris Hospice In-Patient Unit in Mason City, Iowa. Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 20, at the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake, with the Rev. Fred Lewis officiating. Burial was in Amsterdam Cemetery, Goodell, Iowa. The family suggests memorials be directed to the Glenn Weston Bier Memorial Fund.
Glenn Weston Bier was born Sept. 20, 1924, in Belmond, Iowa, the son of Henry and Priscilla (Pals) Bier. He graduated from Belmond High School in 1943. He served in the United States Army from January 1944 to June 24, 1946. He was a veteran of World War II. On July 27, 1947, he married Ardes V. Polsdofer at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa. The couple farmed in Goodell, Iowa, area for 21 years before moving to Garner and later Clear Lake in 1974. Glenn was employed by the Iowa Department of Transportation for 15 and one-half years. His hobbies included gardening, fishing, woodworking and travel. Glenn was a member of the United Methodist Church, Clear Lake.
He is survived by his wife, Ardes Bier, Clear Lake; two sons, Ronald Bier and David Bier and his wife, Susan, all of Mason City; two sisters, Mrs. George (Iva) Beek, Goodell, and Mrs. Ethel Young, Belmond, Iowa; two brothers, Lloyd Bier and his wife, Etta Lou, Garner, and Paul Bier, Belmond, Iowa; two grandchildren, Joshua and Jennifer Bier, Mason City. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Laura Haupt and Wanda Bier; two brothers, Lester and Warren Bier. Organist Mary Jane Reynolds accompanied soloist Robert Riggs. Pallbearers were Dan Jackson, Mark Harthan, Duane Polsdofer, Lloyd Bier Jr., Pat Sweeny, Randy Hiscock.
