Gladys L. Jones, 96, of 115 N. Jefferson Ave., died Monday {Sept. 18, 1995) at home. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave., with the Rev. Merlin Ackerson of First United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and until time of service on Wednesday. Memorials may be given to First United Methodist Church in her memory.

Gladys L. Jones was born June 8, 1899 at Belmond, the daughter of George Norman Thompson and Mary Thompson (nee) Sandry. She graduated from Belmond High School in 1917, then attended Hamilton University (Hamilton Business College) in Mason City. Gladys married J. Gilbert Jones on Dec. 14, 1920 at Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was a 72-year member of First United Methodist Church and the Unity Chapter of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include one grandson, David Burgraff and his wife, Deborah of Des Moines; and one great-grandson, Andrew Burgraff of Des Moines; nephews, Richard Whipple of Des Moines, and George Whipple of Louisiana, Mo.; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J. Gilbert Jones in 1986; a daughter, Ruth Burgraff; and one sister, Nona Whipple.
