William "Lloyd" Cunningham, 88, a life long resident of Belmond and Goodell, died on Sunday, August 14, 2005, at the Belmond Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 18, at 1:30 p.m., at the Belmond United Methodist Church, with Rev. Michael Druhl officiating. Burial will be in the Immanuel Reformed Church Cemetery east of Belmond. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5-7:00 p.m., at the Andrews Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday.

William Lloyd, was born on May 3, 1917 near Boone, the son of Herman and Ruby Boone Cunningham. He moved with his family as a young child to a farm near Goodell. He graduated from the Belmond High School in 1936. Lloyd married Erma Arlene Frohling on June 22, 1937 at the Little Brown Church near Nashua. Lloyd was very much a family man, and both he and Erma worked very hard to instill the value of education in the lives of their children. He worked as a mechanic at the Ford Garage in Belmond for 18 years and later purchased an auto body shop which he operated for 20 years. Lloyd was a member of the Belmond United Methodist Church, where he was a long time usher. He was a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge and was a long time member of the Eastern Star, where he served as Worthy Patron numerous times. He had also been involved in the I.O.O.F. and was one of the charter members of the Belmond Country Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife, Erma in October 2000. Survivors include sons, Marlan (Karen) Cunningham of Ankeny and Kirk (Cathy) Cunningham of Prescott, Arizona; daughter, Glenda (Larry) Field of Fairbanks, Alaska; brother, Harold (Marcella) Cunningham of Goodell; grandchildren, Lauri (David) Moore, David (Lisa) Cunningham, Elizabeth (Brad) Koecheritz, Sarah Cunningham, Derek (Carla) Field and Nathan (Kim) Field; great-grandchildren, Aerielle Field, Matthew Moore, Christopher Moore, Shannon Cunningham and Gabriella Cunningham; and sister-in-law, Mildred Tomson.
