Nellie Theoline Just, 69, of Belmond, died Tuesday (Aug. 4, 1998) at the Belmond Health Care Center, Belmond. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Belmond with Pastor Lowell Halvorson, officiating. Interment will be in St. Francis Cemetery, Belmond. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond, and one hour prior to services on Friday.

Nellie Theoline Just, the daughter of Torkel and Oline (Nelson) Mehus, was born on Sept. 22, 1928, on a farm near Lake Cornelia, Iowa. She attended country school in rural Belmond. On Jan. 6, 1946, Nellie was united in marriage to Jacob John Just in Albert Lea, Minn. Nellie lived in or near Belmond most of her life. She and Jake owned and operated two restaurants: Jake & Nell's in Belmond from 1957 until 1973 and Nell's Place in Meservey from 1974 to 1979. Nellie was widowed in 1975. In 1981, Nellie moved to Mesa, Ariz., where she remained until July 7, 1998, when she returned to Belmond. Nellie was an active member at St. Olaf Lutheran Church, rural Belmond, where she was also baptized and confirmed.

Survivors include her son, James Just and his wife, Linda; granddaughter, Nicole Chadwick; grandson, Brian Just; and great-granddaughter, Chelsie Chadwick, all of Mesa, Ariz.; son, Randy Just and his wife, Ann; and grandsons, Michael and Matthew Just, all of Belmond, Iowa; four sisters, Mrs. Roger (Mildred) Lonnevik, of Belmond, Iowa; Mrs. Bob (Nettie) Kimball, of Ventura, Iowa; Mrs. Arlie (Joan) Olson, of Lake Mills, Iowa; and Ms. Pearl Moudy, of Kansas City, Mo.; two brothers, Donald Mehus, of Iola, Wis.; and Jon Mehus, of Calamus, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob John Just; mother, Oline (Nelson) Mehus; father, Torkel Mehus; and grandson, Randy Jacob Just.
