ALTA MARIE DAMON TURNER of Knoxville, Tennessee, born on November 5, 1923 in Eagle Grove, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bert and Abbie Damon, and by 7 brothers and 3 sisters. She was the youngest of 12 children. She is survived by, her husband, William Turner, retired manager of the McCrory store in Oak Ridge; her son and wife, Tim and Leila Turner of Kingston, Tennessee; daughter and husband, Susan and Danny Shinpaugh of Loudon, Tennessee; grandchildren, Jami and Nick Bunstine of Lenoir City; Shian Richardson of Clinton; Gabe and Clay Shinpaugh of Loudon; great-grandchildren, Morgan, Tori, and Anna Bunstine; her sister, Ione Sherlock of Allen Park, Michigan; and by several nieces and nephews. She was a member of First Christian Church of Oak Ridge. The funeral service will be held in the chapel of Weatherford Mortuary on Saturday, February 24, 2007, 8 PM with Rev. Jesse Bradshaw officiating. The graveside service will be on Sunday, 1 PM at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. The family requests that memorials be in the form of donations, in Mrs. Turner memory, to First Christian Church of Oak Ridge, 116 E. Division Road, Oak Ridge, TN 37830. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6 - 8 PM at Weatherford Mortuary, Oak Ridge.
