The Maxwell Tribune, Maxwell, Iowa
January 9, 1908.

Lysle Bowen was born at Maxwell, Iowa, in 1888, and a year later his parents moved to Eagle Grove where he had lived with them until his death at Los Veges (sic), N. M., December 18th. In September he had a seige of typhoid fever which left his lungs in such a serious condition he went to Los Veges (sic), December 10th hoping the change of climate would bring the healing found impossible here. He reached there the 13th, but no relief was realized and he died only five days later. The remains were taken to Eagle Grove, reaching there the 23rd and the funeral was held in the Methodist church at 2 p. m., Rev. Chapler preaching the sermon. The interment was in the Rose Hill cemetery beside his mother who preceded him about three years ago. Lysle was the oldest of seven children. Two brothers and three sisters and the father survive his death. During the past year he has been "caller" for the North-Western railway and was a young man of fine character. Everybody has a good word for Lysle Bowen, and every companion and acquaintance mingle the tear of sympathy with the bereaved family.
