Ardeth Lodema Mattice, 94, of Fayetteville, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, Feb. 7, 2007, in Fayetteville. She was born Jan. 9, 1913, in Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Henry Hughes and Edith Myra France Donly. After graduating from Morningside College, she taught in the public secondary schools for five years in Waverly, Iowa, and Eagle Grove. She was an active member of the American Association of University Women and the Audubon Society in Sioux Falls, S.D. She enjoyed music, painting, reading and birdwatching.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Lloyd H. Mattice. She is survived by two sons, Wayne L. Mattice of Akron, Ohio, and John D. Mattice of Fayetteville; one granddaughter, and two great-grandsons. Private burial will be in National Cemetery at Fayetteville, Arkansas. Memorials may be made to the Humane Society of the Ozarks, the Fayetteville Animal Shelter or the Salvation Army. Arrangements are by Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
