Wellsburg--Chris Louis Eilbert, 52, passed away Friday, January 19, 2007 at Grundy County Memorial Hospital in Grundy Center, Ia. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, January 23, 2007 at AGWSR Middle School in Wellsburg, Ia. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, January 22, 2007 at the Middle School. Burial will be at Shilo Cemetery in Wellsburg. A luncheon will follow the graveside services at the Wellsburg Community Building.

Chris was born December 4, 1954, in Jefferson, Ia. He was raised in Grand Junction, Ia, where he attended school and graduated from high school. In 1979, he received his teaching degree from the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, Ia and began his career at Northwest Webster High School, Barnum, Ia. For the past 25 years, Chris taught in the AGWSR School District in Wellsburg, Ia and was a well-respected Athletic Director and coach. Many years of his life were dedicated to young athletes in football, basketball, track and softball. Chris was an integral part in motivating students and athletes to achieve their highest level of potential. Chris was united in marriage to Mary Teresa Anderson on October 20, 1979, at Sacred Heart Church in Eagle Grove, Iowa. Together they had three children: Jill, Jacob and Jessica. In life, Chris' most significant role was that of a husband and father. He enjoyed farming and his 3010 John Deere tractor and was an avid Cleveland Browns' fan. His many friends found him to be an outgoing, highly-organized and a physically-fit person. His summers were spent with painting and remodeling projects.

Chris is survived by his wife, Mary, Wellsburg; daughters, Jill Eilbert, Grand Junction, Ia, Jessica Eilbert of Wellsburg; son, Jacob Eilbert, Eau Claire, Wi; his parents, Francis and Verda Eilbert, Grand Junction; one brother, Craig (Terry) Eilbert, Marion, Ia; one sister, Cheryl (Tony) Armstrong, Pembroke Pines, Fl; brother-in law, Butch (Barb) Anderson, Urbandale, Ia; sister-in-laws, Sue Anderson, Eagle Grove, Ia, Colleen (Jeff) Brockman, Council Bluffs, Jean (Lon) Lesher, Missouri Valley, Ia; two nephews and nine nieces; and many close friends. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
