Myra L. Paulsen, 56, of Garner, died on Sunday, November 24, 2002, at the St. Marys Hospital in Rochester. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 27, at the Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church in Garner. Burial will be at a later date in the Evergreen Cemetery near Clarion.

Myra Lea Paulsen, the daughter of Myron and Wava (Cooper) State, was born on October 9, 1946 at Clarion. She graduated from the Clarion High School in 1964. She continued her education at the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing and later received her BSN through the University of Iowa. On March 1980, she married Roger Paulsen at her parents home in Clarion. They lived in Garner. She was director of nursing at the Belmond Medical Center until 1988, in 1990 she began working at the Mercy Medical Center in Mason City and later became director of surgery. She retired in September 2001.

Myra is survived by her husband, Roger of Garner; her mother, Wava State of Clarion; two daughters, Tina (Steve) Antle and their two children, Newton Peterson and Dana (Chris) Peterson and their three children, of Owatonna, Minnesota; two brothers, Gary (Terrie) State of Imperial, Nebraska, and Scott (Shirlee) State of Sulphur Springs, Texas.
