HAMPTON - Gerald R. Buss, 85, of Hampton died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton. Services will be held Monday, May 5, at 10:30 a.m. at the Hampton United Methodist Church with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City. Rev. Jerry Miller will officiate. Military service will be provided by the Hampton Memorial Association. There will be no visitation.
Gerald was born March 31, 1918, at Dows to Frank and Sarah Roths Buss. He graduated from Hampton High School and served in the United States Army in World War II. On Dec. 8, 1946, he married Vivian Coyle at Nashua. He was an electrician for United Hydraulics Company and a driver for Liquid Grow, both in Hampton. Gerald was a member of the Hampton United Methodist Church and the Hampton American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking and yard work. He is survived by his wife, Vivian, of Hampton; three sons, Gary Buss and Byron Buss, both of Hampton and Daryl Buss of Iowa City; a granddaughter, Hayley Montes of Hampton; and a great-granddaughter, Makayla Montes, of Hampton. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister. Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home of Hampton is in charge of arrangements.
