Avron L. Peyton, 79, of Coulter, died Monday morning (April 7, 1997) in an auto accident two miles south of Mason City at Nettle Avenue on 230th Street. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Latimer, with the Rev. Dennis Arndt officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Dows. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church, with a 7 p.m. public prayer service. Willim Funeral Home, Latimer, is in charge of arrangements.
Avron Peyton was born Dec. 16, 1917, in Hampton. Survivors include one daughter, Janaan Taylor of Clarion; one son, Gaylon Peyton of Bedford, Texas; six stepdaughters, Susan Mickelson of Ankeny, Ronda Kruger of Clarion, Judith Penaluna of Iowa Falls, Janet Morgan of Plainfield, Cheryl Rusley of Hampton and Joyce Borcherding, Coulter; one stepson, Bruce Harris, Hampton; five grandchildren; 16 stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and three step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Avron L. Peyton, 79, and his wife Mildred B. Harris Peyton, 67, of Coulter were killed in an auto accident on Monday, April 7, 1997 south of Mason City.Funeral services were held Friday, April 11 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Latimer. Willim Funeral Home of Latimer was in charge of arrangements. Avron was buried in Fairview Cemetery at Dows and Mildred was buried in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery at Latimer.
Avron was born December 26, 1917 at Hampton, the son of Jess and Eda Welzien Peyton. He grew to manhood in the Rowan area and graduated from Rowan High School in 1935. He then began farming with his father. His first marriage was to Beatrice Nelson and they were the parents of two children, Gaylon and Janaan. They later divorced. He married Sue Smith and they divorced. In 1946 he moved to Clarion where he was in the scrap metal business and worked for Hagie Manufacturing. He then returned to the family farm.
On June 10, 1993 Avron and Mildred [(Olk) Harris] were married at the Little Brown Church and they made their home in Coulter. He was active in the Coulter Community Club and Civil Air Patrol.
His survivors include on son, Gaylon and wife Sarah of Bedford, Texas; one daughter, Janaan Taylor and husband Larry of Clarion; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two step-daughters, Susan Mickelson of Ankeny; Ronda Kruger of Clarion and three step-grandchildren.
His parents preceded him in death.
