Memorial services will be held for Norman L. Kvale, 67, of Goodell, at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Belmond. Norman L. Kvale was born Aug. 28, 1930, to Helmick and Olena Kvale, on a farm near Goldfield. He attended school in Eagle Grove. On Sept. 16, 1951, he was united in marriage to Madella Orr of Eagle Grove at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. Together, they farmed in the Goldfield and Renwick areas, until 1965, when they bought a farm in the Goodell area. He retired in 1989, and in April 1997, they bought a home in Apache Junction, Ariz., where they planned to spend the rest of their retirement. They moved in July and he passed away on Sept. 15, 1997, at the Desert Vista Hospital after a lingering illness.

Norman is survived by his wife, Madella Kvale of Apache Junction, Ariz.; one son, Steve Kvale of Kansas City, Mo.; one daughter, Cindy Kvale of Goodell; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; one sister, Clarice Johnson of Wells, Minn.; and two brothers, Harold Kvale of Thor, and Kenneth Kvale of Eagle Grove. Norman was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Leslie.
