Dr. Walter H. Long, 94, of Clarion died Friday (Jan. 26, 1996) at the Clarion Community Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the United Methodist Church of Renwick, with the Rev. Shirley Rozendaal officiating. Burial will be in the Goldfield Cemetery, Goldfield. Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m. Sunday at the Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home, Renwick.

Walter Long was born May 28, 1901 in Renwick. Survivors include his wife, Norma of Clarion; two daughters, Marilyn Neely of Iowa City, and Marjorie Hey of Green Bay, Wis.; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister.

DR. WALTER H. LONG
Dr. Walter Harrison Long was born on May 28, 1901 at Renwick, Iowa, to Clair H. and Millie Phipps Long. He graduated from the Renwick High School in 1919 and then graduated from the University of Iowa School of Dentistry in 1924. He was united in marriage to Norma Tanck on June 3, 1926, at Renwick. From 1924 until 1973, he had a dental practice in Renwick. They lived in Renwick throughout their retirement years. He was a member of the Renwick United Methodist Church, where he had been a Church Trustee. He was a lifetime member of the American Dental Association and Past President of the Fort Dodge District Dental Association. He was a member and Past Master of Viona Lodge #538 A. F. & A. M., and also belonged to Eagle Chapter 114 OES at Eagle Grove. He belonged to the Izaak Walton League and was a former member of the City Council and the Renwick School Board. On April 1, 1995, they moved to the Meadows Retirement Home in Clarion.

Dr. Walter Harrison Long died on Friday, January 26, 1996, at the Clarion Community Hospital in Clarion at the age of 94. He is survived by his wife, Norma of Clarion; 2 daughters, Marilyn Neely and husband Marion, Iowa City, and Marjorie Hey, Green Bay, Wisconsin; and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Grace Kosiba.

Funeral services were held on Monday, January 29, 1996, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church, Renwick, Iowa, with the Reverend Shirley Rozendaal officiating. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield, Iowa. Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home of Renwick was in charge of arrangements.
