Gladys L. Robb, 71, of Clarion, died Wednesday (June 26, 1996) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the First Lutheran Church, Clarion, with the Rev. Gerald Dyste officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today at the Willim Funeral Home, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. There will be further visitation at the church prior to the services.

Gladys L. Robb was born June 17, 1925, in Kanawha, the daughter of Severin and Ida (Larson) Skauge. She attended rural schools in Norway and Dayton townships and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1943. For a few years following receipt of her teaching certificate, she was a teacher in rural schools in Iowa. On May 1, 1948, she was married to Robert Robb. They farmed near Dows for a few years. In 1958 they moved to the family farm southwest of Clarion and continued to live there to the present time. In addition to helping with farm work, Gladys worked for a number of years at the Brenton Bank in Clarion. She was active in the Iowa Federation of Women's Clubs for many years and served in many offices in the organization, including state president from 1988-1990. She was deeply interested in and worked diligently for the Wright County Historical Society for many years. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church, Clarion, and in the past served as a Sunday school teacher for many years and had been active in other organizations in the church. Mrs. Robb enjoyed spending time with her family to whom she was deeply devoted. She and her husband enjoyed spending the winter months in Texas or other warm southern states. She also enjoyed sewing, quilting and reading.

She is survived by her loving husband, Robert of Clarion; two sons, Gary Robb and his wife, Darcy, of Clarion, and Mark Robb of Boone; three grandchildren, Waylon Robb of Clarion, Michele and Shawn Robb of Boone; two sisters, Alva Hasty and her husband, Grover, of Kanawha, and Ilene Beyer and her husband, Maynard, of Garner; one brother Harold Skauge and his wife, Loma, of Clarion; nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, cousins, and a host of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents. Gladys was a very kind, loving person, and spent most of her adult life in giving to and doing things for others. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
