Eldon T. "Art" Arthur, 64, of 16054 245th St., Mason City, died Thursday afternoon (March 25, 1999) at the Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit. No services will be held and his cremated remains will be taken to California. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Hospice of North Iowa. The family spent a private time of remembrance with Art before his cremation.

Eldon was born on Feb. 24, 1935, in Clarion, the son of Gaylen and Bertha "Lundy" Arthur. He attended school in Clarion and then began his own company called Wright County Roofing. Eldon was married to Donna Hudgins on Sept. 15, 1954, in Eagle Grove. To this marriage were born three children. In 1970, he moved to California, where he was a foreman for Waukesha Diesel Company. In 1990 he moved to Mason City, where he has lived ever since. He loved to fish for Northerns and Walleyes at Lake Cornelia, around North Iowa and in Minnesota. He enjoyed discussing politics and current affairs and working on cars. He also was a talented artist, making numerous sketches and drawings. Eldon was a wonderful father who loved and adored kids and will be greatly missed by his family.

Those thankful for having shared Eldon's life include his daughter, Danell Arthur and Mark Huth, of Cerritos, Calif.; his son, Steven and his wife, Lori Arthur, of Billings, Mont.; one sister, Sadie Scott of Bunston, Mo.; seven brothers, Alvin and his wife, Aileen Arthur, Clarion, Elmer and his former wife, Phyllis Arthur, of Mason City, Archie and his wife, Maureen, Leo and Carol, Leland and his wife, Carol, and Gayle and his wife, Gloria, all of Clarion; and Wayne and his wife, Barb, of Alexandria; six grandchildren, Jeramie, Brandon, Gina, and Shona Arthur, Summer Simpson, and Fallon Huth; and two great-grandchildren, Chase Stoltz, and Karson Zeitler. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Robert, in 1975; and one brother, Larry Arthur. Fullerton Funeral Home (515) 423-8676.
