Geneva A. ``Gene'' Middleton, 97, of 324 Second St. N.E., died Saturday (Feb. 24, 1996) at the Good Shepherd Nursing Home. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery with the Rev. James B. Norem of St. Paul Lutheran Church officiating. There will be no visitation, Major Erickson Funeral Home, 111 N. Pennsylvania Ave. is in charge of arrangements.
Geneva A. ``Gene'' Middleton was born Sept. 30, 1898, the daughter of James J. and Effie (Stryker) Johnson, near Eagle Grove. Geneva lived in Arkansas with her family as an infant until the age of 10, returning to the Eagle Grove area where she attended school. She married Paul E. Middleton Sr. on July 19, 1917, in Eagle Grove. Gene and Paul moved to Mason City in September of 1938, where she worked for Weber Furniture making draperies. Gene lived in Mason City the rest of her life. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
Survivors include one son, Paul Middleton Jr. and his wife, Margaret, of the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown; two grandchildren, Veronica ``Nikki'' Ott of Corona, Calif., and Paul E. Middleton III of Akron, Ohio; four great-grandchildren, Tomm and Sara Olson, and Patrick and Jacquelyn Middleton; and close friends, Marion and Della McKinney of Mason City. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1966, four brothers and four sisters.
