Life Ends For Carl HERRMANN Ill Six Weeks, Dies On Tuesday.
Funeral services were held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock in the St. Paul's Evangelical and Reformed church for Carl Herrmann, aged 64, who passed away at the Sigourney hospital at 9am Tuesday, where he had been taken as a patient on Monday. Mr. Herrmann had been in ill health for the past six weeks and death followed a stroke of apoplexy. He was born [April 6, 1887] on a farm south of Sigourney, the son of Bernhardt and Louise Leibfarth Herrmann. He grew to manhood in that community and received his education in the rural school. He left Sigourney in 1912 with his sister and her husband for Belmond, and they later moved to Meservey. In June, 1918, he was married to Gertrude Leichti of Sigourney and they lived there until her death in June of 1922, when he returned to Sigourney and has lived here since. He was confirmed in the St. Paul Evangelical and Reformed church and held membership there at the time of his death. He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, Jack, who died in infancy, his parents, a brother Gus, who passed away in 1933, and his twin brother, Chris, who died in 1948.
