Arthur Henry Wesselink was born April 6, 1914, in Sioux Center, Iowa, the son of Henry and Andrika (Schutt) Wesselink. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Sioux Center High School in 1933. Art then graduated from Central College in Pella and National Chiropractic College in Chicago. On June 17, 1941, Arthur was united in marriage with Frances L. Newsome, at the Derby Farm Home in southern Iowa. Art served with a United States Navy Intelligence group in China during W.W.II, from 1942 to 1945 as a Pharmacist Mate Second Class. Art was a member of the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. He served on Church Board, Pastor Parish Relations, as a Sunday school teacher for many years, and Lay Leaders Worship - coordinating over 100 Lay Witness Missions in Iowa and nearby states. He also enjoyed fishing, reading and dancing.

Dr. Arthur Wesselink was a Doctor of Chiropractic for 60 years. He began his career in Clarion for the first two and a half years and moved to Eagle Grove to join in partnership with Dr. Frank Fisher until his death. Art continued the practice until his retirement in 1995. He also served as President of the Iowa Chiropractic Association in 1955 and Mayor of Eagle Grove. Art passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2005, at Southfield Wellness Community in Webster City, at the age of 91 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, John, Pete, Gerrit and Ed Wesselink; sisters, Pearl Bruinsma and Grace Merridith; and grandson, John Bauman. Survivors include his wife, Frances Wesselink of Webster City; six children: John Wesselink and wife Susan of Eagle Grove, Steven Wesselink and wife Lynn of Blythe, CA, Jay Wesselink and wife Kate of Madison, WI, Alice French and husband Michael of St. Matthews, SC, Mary Bauman and husband Greg of Danvers, IL and William Wesselink of Tuscon, AZ; 13 grandchildren: Troy Moser, Tricia Huff, Lora Moser, Kent Wesselink, Brian, Jill and Jo Ellen Wesselink, Casey and Gerrit Wesselink, Dayna Stevens, Kim and Nick Bauman and Michael DeAnn French; seven great-grandchildren: Jacob Wesselink, Benjamin Wesselink, Cael Wesselink, Heidi Moser, William Moser, Zach Wesselink and Finley Stevens; and two sisters, Alice Wells of Sioux Center and Alma Lyzen of Hull.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 23, 2005, 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove, with Rev. Mary K. Green, officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Memorials may be directed to Gideons, Eagle Grove American Legion, the United Methodist Church, or KJYL Radio.
