Lloyd "Skip" E. Starling Jr., 69, of Eagle Grove, Iowa, died Thursday, June 8, 2006, at the Wright County Medical Center in Clarion, Iowa. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Roseberry's Funeral Home in Friendship. The Rev. Todd Leininger will officiate. Interment will be at the Big Flats Cemetery in Big Flats. Military rites will be offered at the graveside service by the Adams VFW Post No. 6279, the Adams American Legion Red Cloud Post No. 250 and the Grand Marsh American Legion Snyder-Richardson Post No. 273. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday at Roseberry's Funeral Home.

Skip was born Sept. 18, 1936. in Springfield, Ill., to Lloyd and Martha (King) Starling Sr. He was a member of the Army from 1956 to 1957. He married Mary Cavanaugh on June 23, 1962, in Arkdale. Skip moved to Iowa in 2004. Skip was preceded in death by his parents, Sister (Rose McGregor); two brothers (John and Frankie); and one grandson (Justin). Survivors include: his wife, daughter, Jenine (Phillip) Patrick, Radcliff, Ky.; three sons, Parry (Patty) Starling, Eagle Grove, Iowa, Russell (Dena) Starling, Adams and Clifford (Dawn) Starling, Clarion, Iowa; five sisters, Ruby Cose, Adams, Dorothy (Norman) Reinwand, Biron, Lois Brown, Milwaukee, Virginia Calkins, Friendship and Martha (Lee) Lang, Plover, one half sister, Patricia Larson, Arkdale; two half brothers, Frederick Starling, Friendship and Albert Starling, Friendship; 14 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Roseberry's Funeral Home is assisting the family.
