Avon Bernice (Ingebritson) Linduska was born on July 9, 1919 on farm near Dows, Iowa, and died on December 31, 2006 at Jefferson, Iowa the age of 87. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday January 5, 2007 at First United Methodist Church in Jefferson. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at the Jefferson Cemetery. Friends may call at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Home in Jefferson after 12 noon Thursday, where the family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.

Avon was raised on her family's farm near Dows with three brothers and one sister. Avon married Frank Linduska in 1946. After a short time living in Dows, they established their permanent residence in Jefferson in 1948. Avon was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years on August 19, 1979; and brothers Arthur, Julian, and Wilbur, and sister Mamie. She is survived by two sons, Paul and his wife Sandy of Chesterfield, Virginia; and Steve and his wife Kim of Ames; and six grandchildren: Paul, Phillip, Stacey, Angela, Katelyn, and Joe.

Avon's greatest joy was in creating a comfortable and loving home for her family and their friends. During Frank's long coaching career, Avon cheerfully welcomed countless coaches and athletes into their home. Avon was an active member in the Methodist Church. She served on many boards in the Jefferson community, supported countless community activities, and worked for many years at Royal Jewelers. She was an avid golfer. Memorials may be made in her name to the Frank Linduska Scholarship at Jefferson Scranton Community Schools.
