Robert J. Nelson, 24, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 5, 2006, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Humboldt. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Humboldt. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Mason-Lindhart Funeral Home in Humboldt. A Parish Scripture Service will be at 6 p.m. and Parish Rosary at 7:30 p.m., both Thursday at the funeral home. Robert is survived by his parents, Larry and Mary Jo Nelson of Woodward, IA; sisters, Kristine Anderson of Parker, CO, Dr. Michelle Nelson/Schlichte and husband Eric Schlichte of Cedar Rapids, IA, Dr. Katherine Nelson and fiance Dr. Mike Zwanziger of Gilbert, AZ; grandparents, Joseph (Spud) Colwell of Humboldt, and Robert and Grace Nelson of Goldfield; honorary grandparents, Mary Jane and Russell Nielsen of Atlantic, IA; nephews, Brendan and Cole Andersen, niece Mya Schlichte; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and many, many friends. His grandmother, Mary Colwell of Humboldt, preceded him in death.

Robert Joseph Nelson, the son of Larry and Mary Jo (Colwell) Nelson, was born Aug. 12, 1982, in Humboldt, Iowa. He graduated from Atlantic Community High School in 2000 and moved to Cedar Rapids, where he attended Kirkwood Community College. Rob was employed by APAC Company in Cedar Rapids until his death. Rob enjoyed cooking, fishing, swimming and Karaoke. He was a member of a state wide and international D of D Club.
