Ernest Claude Schutt, the son of Joseph and Anna (Claude) Schutt, was born August 8, 1921, in Woolstock, Iowa. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, attending Head Grove Country School and graduating from Woolstock High School in 1939. Ernest served in the United States Navy from 1945 to 1947. On December 27, 1946, Ernest was united in marriage with Gertrude Kenney in Nashua, New Hampshire. The couple made their home in Lynn, Massachusetts. Gertrude preceded him in death on November 4, 1998. Ernest lived in Massachusetts for nearly 50 years, working for Shetland Manufacturing and General Electric. He and his daughter and her family moved to Eagle Grove in 1999. Ernest enjoyed golfing and bowling while living in Massachusetts. He was active at the Senior Citizens Center in Eagle Grove playing cards, bingo and dominos.

Ernest passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2006, at Hamilton County Hospital in Webster City, at the age of 85 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; 3 sisters, Marie Borders, Evelyn Schomberg and Vena Schultz and two brothers, Sonny Joseph Schutt and Burton Schutt. Survivors include his daughter Linda Beauvais and husband Paul of Eagle Grove; 3 grandchildren, Dawn and Laurie Beauvais of Eagle Grove and Paul Beauvais of Boyertown, PA; 4 great-grandchildren; sister, Bernice Stensrud of Woolstock and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Friday, December 1, 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove. Memorials may be directed to the American Heart Association.
