Anne Kathryn Schad, 93, of Belmond, died on Saturday, April 10, 2004, at the Belmond Health Care Center. A memorial Mass was held on Monday, April 12, at the St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Belmond, with Father David Beckman and Deacon Nick Schmit officiating. Interment will take place in the Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Mendota Heights, Minnesota.
Anne, the daughter of Joseph and Mary Charipar Moldan, was born on August 4, 1910, on a claim in Deadwood, South Dakota. Shortly after Anne was born the family moved to Olivia, Minnesota. Seven years later they moved to a farm near Foreston, Minnesota. Anne graduated from Milaca High in 1929 and attended St. Cloud Business College. She was later employed as a secretary at Powers Dry Goods and Benson Quinn Company. Anne married Edwin Schad on November 28, 1935 at the Incarnation Parish in Minneapolis. The couple made their home in Minneapolis and later moved to Owatonna. They owned Fair Lanes Bowling Alley, where they worked side by side until retiring in 1966. Anne enjoyed sewing, golfing, bowling and playing cards. She also enjoyed gardening and fishing. Anne was a member of the St. Joseph Church in Owatonna, Elks and the Senior Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Edwin in 2003; and brother, George Moldan. Anne is survived by her daughters, Mary Jean Kroiss of Little Canada, Minnesota and Kathryn McClintock (Stephen) of Belmond; grandchildren, Christine Kroiss and Brian Larson; and sister, Esther Danelek of Brooklyn Center, Minnesota.
