Frederick "Fred" J. Rockow, 86, of Belmond, died on Sunday, March 23, 2003, at the Wright Medical Center in Clarion. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Wednesday, March 26, at the Vernon Lutheran Church rural Dows, with burial in the Vernon Township Cemetery. Frederick Julius was born on March 15, 1917 at Dows, the son of William and Emma (Lenz) Rockow. He attended country school near Klemme and Garner. He married Fannie Kardoes at the home of her parents near Buffalo Center in 1941. The couple made their home near Galt, where Fred both farmed and drove truck. Preceding him in death were his parents; and brother, Harold. Fred is survived by his wife; sons, Gerald Rockow and Richard (Twyla) Rockow; and sister, Mildred Kreitlow of Kanawha.
