Helen East (Mrs. Dean) Skovlin, 77, Northridge, CA, died April 25, 2006 at All Saints Health Center of North Hollywood. Services were held May 6 at Andrews Funeral Home in Belmond with Rev. Michael Druhl of the United Methodist Church officiating. Inurnment was in the Belmond Cemetery. Helen was born May 4, 1928 in St. Louis to J. Holman and Della (Richards) East. She grew up in St. Louis and graduated from Monticello College in Illinois and Washington University in St. Louis. Prior to her marriage to Dean Skovlin on June 7, 1952, she was employed by American Airlines. Helen is remembered as a loving and devoted wife and mother. Her special gift for uplifting the spirits of both family members, friends, and total strangers will be truly missed. Helen was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha, American Association of University Women, and the American Scandinavian Historical and Cultural Foundation.
She is survived by her husband, and daughters Valerie Skovlin of Los Angeles and Cynthia Skovlin of San Francisco.
