Guy Peters, 72, Des Moines, died unexpectedly at his home May 8, 2006. Services were held May 11 at Merle Hay Funeral Home at Chapel Hill in Des Moines. Guy was born April 3, 1934 in Washington, Iowa. He retired in Des Moines after many years of working as a carpenter and part-time movie star. He grew up in Tingley, a small town in southern Iowa that was always close to his heart. He graduated from Tingley High School in 1952 and received an honorable discharge from the United States Army. He married Linda Richards in 1955 and lived for several years in Belmond where he was involved in community service organizations. He was instrumental in helping to launch the Pony Express Riders of Iowa in 1968-1969, was elected the first president of the organization in 1969, and has been instrumental in raising millions of dollars for the Easter Seal Society of Iowa to benefit Camp Sunnyside in Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale Henry and Elma Dale Peters. "Pete" is survived by best friend Donna Barger; children Terry (Judy) Peters of West Des Moines, Timothy (Cherie) Peters of Des Moines, Troy (Michelle) Peters of Tipton and Tammy (Robert) Negrete of Washington.
