LeRoy "Bud" Berhow, 83, died June 17, 2006 at the Kanawha Community Home. Services were held June 20 at the Kanawha Lutheran Church with Janelle Siffring Aim officiating.

Bud was born at home in Twin Lake Township near Kanawha to Alvis and Tillie Severson Berhow on June 21, 1922. He received his education in a rural school. He entered the U.S. Army April 7, 1943 and landed in Europe April 18, 1944, participating in the invasion of France. He served with Battery B, 777th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Battal-ion in General George Patton's 3rd Army as a half-track driver. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was discharged November 29, 1945 and received the Bronze Star and Silver Star. On February 24, 1946 he married Lucille Chapman in Belmond. Bud farmed for a while and then was employed by Hancock County Maintenance until retiring. He was a member of the Goodell Legion Post. Bud's retirement was spent woodworking, bird watching, and hardly missing a day watching the wildlife at East and West Lake. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and playing cribbage with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter Angi Hegg Bronemann; great-grandson Jacob Lang; and sisters Delores, Viola, Marlys and Alva. Bud is survived by his wife; daughters Judy (Jim) Hegg of Shell Rock, Patsy (Kevin) Sanders of Fayetteville, TN, and Becky Ruter of Corwith; son Timothy (Nancy) Berhow of Corwith; grandchildren Brian Hegg, Brent and Matt Sanders, Chad Lang, Casey Ruter, and Cole and Amy Berhow; great-grandchildren Michael Bronemann, Brynn Hegg, Payton and Connor Sanders, and Calvin and Hayden Lang; sisters Ina Smith of Belmond, Ardith Michelson of Klemme, Orpha Trees of Riverside, CA, and Thelma Boller of San Luis Obispo, CA; and brother Milo Berhow of Belmond.
