Jose "Salud" Martinez-Perez, 76, Belmond, died of a heart attack September 14, 2006 at the Belmond Medical Center. Services were held September 18 at the Clarion United Methodist Church with Rev. Fernando Romero officiating. Burial was in the Belmond Cemetery. Jose' "Salud" Martinez-Perez, the son of Alfonso Martinez and Josefa Perez, was born March 6, 1930 in Guanajuato, Mexico. He lived most of his life in Rio Bravo, Tamaulipas Mexico and his last years in Belmond. He worked as a farmer for 12 years and as a night security guard for 20 years. Jose' worked at Sparboe Farms in Goodell for two years. He will be remembered for his good sense of humor and as a hardworking, loving husband, father, and grandfather.

Survivors include his wife Celia Martinez of Belmond; children Maria V. Rodriguez of Belmond, Angel, Eleazar, Aurelio, Manuel of Mexico, and Jorge Luis of Clarion, David of Texas, Juana of Belmond, Josefa Martinez and Raquel R. Solis of Belmond; grandchildren Miguel A. Mercado of Belmond, Berenice, Hugo, Jose Alejandro Rodriguez of Belmond, Eleazar Martinez, Jr., of Webster City, Luis Fabian, Jorge O. Itzel Martinez of Clarion, Malixandra Anes, Fedencio Ramirez of Belmond, and 20 others in Texas and Mexico; great grandchildren Miguel A. Jr., Gladys Rubi and Javier Carlos Mercado of Belmond, Mackenzie D. Rodriguez of Belmond, Olivia Mateo Martinez, of Clarion, Jorge Antonio and Miguel O. Martinez, of Belmond, Celia Martinez of Webster City, and 25 others in Texas and Mexico.
