Mildred Cecelia Knutson, age 73, of Eagle Grove, passed away on Thursday, November 9, 2006, at the Mary Greeley Medical Center, Ames. Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 11, at 1:30 p.m., at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. Pastor Paul Stone officiated. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.

Mildred Cecelia Knutson, was born on June 1, 1933, the daughter of Norwegian immigrants Gunner and Gertrude Knutson. She was raised on the family farm north of Goldfield and attended the Thrall Country School and graduated from the Goldfield High School in 1951. Mildred was married to Harold E. Knutson of Thor for 47 years. The couple lived in Thor for a short time, moved to her father's farm and then moved to Eagle Grove in 1959. Besides raising her children, Millie found time to be involved in much volunteer work in the community and her church, faithfully serving in several positions involving Christian Education. She spent many hours in the care of her elderly parents and the sewing of clothes for herself and her children, including prom dresses and bridesmaid gowns. Millie worked for several local businesses, including the TG & Y Store, Eagle Grove Eagle, Stephens Cleaners and Fashions Unlimited as a seamstress. She was the site manager of the Senior Citizens Center and congregate meal program for 15 years and also served as a census taken for the U.S. Government.

Mildred is survived by eight children, Carol Magoon of Eldora, Connie Linn and husband, Alan of Eagle Grove, Tom Knutson of Waterloo, Tim Knutson and wife, Joan of Eagle Grove, Caryn Gray and husband, Mike of Cedar Rapids, Christy Christensen and husband, Kelly of Eagle Grove, Cathy Secoy and husband, Kevin of Ankeny and Camilla Grandgeorge and husband, Bob of Woolstock; 21 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Anna Kanten of Milan, Minnesota; and a brother, Gerhard Knutson of Northfield, Minnesota. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Harold in 1999; and a brother, Dr. Kent Knutson in 1973.
