Mrs. Donald (Eva M.) Durkee, 73, of Morris, Illinois died Thursday evening, Nov. 2, 2006 at Morris Hospital with her loving family at her bedside. Born March 20, 1933, in Vincent, Iowa, she as the daughter of Frank A. and Gladys (Conley) Nichols. Educated in the schools of Eagle Grove, Ia., she graduated from Eagle Grove High School with the Class of 1951. On Feb. 19, 1955, she married Donald L. "Tink" Durkee at Immaculate Conception Church in Morris. She was employed with Illinois Bell/AT&T Telephone Company for 20 years, retiring in 1990. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Morris.

Survivors include two daughters, Diane (Lance) Wagner, Schaumburg and Linda (Michael) Struck, Morris; three sons, Daniel (Linda) Durkee, Schoefield, Wis., Joseph (Gloria) Durkee, Morris, and Patrick (Teresa) Durkee, Dacula, Ga.; seven grandchildren, Steven (Kristin) Durkee, Brian Struck, Scott Durkee, Becky Struck, Brittany Durkee, Shawna Wagner and Kyle Wagner; one sister, Leila A. Nichols, Onalaska, Wis.; two brothers, A.G. Nichols, Scottsdale, Ariz. and Dean C. Nichols, Vincent, Ia.; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Durkee was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Sept. 7, 1993; and one brother, Robert Nichols. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the U.C. Davis & Sons Funeral Home, Ltd., 301 Washington St., Morris, with Rev. Tom Ostrander officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Carmel Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Memorial gifts can be directed to Grundy Community Hospice.
